Water damage restoration by SERVPRO at your Slidell business ensures the best results

Located in Louisiana, the city of Slidell is known for being the cultural center for East St. Tammany Parish. You will find this city has a population of about 90,000 people, and it sits close to several major highways in interstates. Located close by, there is also a municipal airport and the Crescent railway system.

Slidell, Louisiana, Beginnings, and History

John William Gause and his brother Wesley were earlier settlers to the area. John decided to start up a lumber mill in what was later to be called Slidell. While traveling back and forth from home to the lumber yard, it created a road that is now known as Gause Boulevard, a significant street going east/west through the town. The lumber yard itself was situated where Gause Boulevard intersects with the railroad track within Slidell's northwestern portion.

About the time that 1910 came around, Slidell saw notable growth from an economic and industrial standpoint. A large creosote plant was built along with Fritz Salmen Brickyard's construction, later to be called St. Joe Brick. However, tragedy struck in 1915 when the creosote plant burned, killing over 50 workers and three firefighters.
